Elon Musk made a radical change last week, renaming Twitter to “X”. This change was distributed as an update to the iOS and Android apps. However, some iPhone owners who did not install the latest update from the App Store and kept the Twitter logo put their phones up for sale at prices as high as 25 thousand dollars.
A collection of iPhone models with the “original Twitter logo”
Twitter, or X as it is now called, managed to change its name in the App Store last weekend. The new update replaces Twitter with X and the bluebird with the X logo. Some iPhone owners did not update their Twitter app to avoid seeing the new X logo.
After a trend started on social media, iPhones with the Twitter bird became collector’s items. iPhone users who sold their phones for thousands of dollars on eBay did not neglect to react to Elon Musk.
For example, an iPhone 11 Pro Max, which still has the Twitter logo, fetched $25,000. Although this product has been removed on eBay, it should be noted that there are iPhone models with prices between 800-1000 dollars.
Let us remind you that a similar situation will not apply to the Android world. Since Android has sideloading (APK installation), you can revert to the old version using third-party stores. However, it should be noted that Twitter may cut support for these versions.
Even though the $25,000 ad has been deleted, we will see if there will be people who will pay high prices for iPhones with the Twitter logo.
